A number of conferences, seminars and workshops take place in the city of Las Vegas. When one thinks of Las Vegas Convention Vendors (http://www.lveventsource.com), one does not often think of the vendors having a focused event. Depending on the length, style and type of conference, vending booths are often quite varied when it comes products and services.
One of the best and most fun of these conventions is that related to magic. Jeff McBride, well known magician and founder of the Magic and Mystery School often hosts a convention focused on beginning magic and emerging magicians each year. Vendors at this conference will no doubt be different than those set up at an electronics show though may have some of the same at a science fiction convention.
For example, a vending booth at a magic festival or trade show is most likely going to carry special effects type products. Whether that be costumes, dice, make up, masks, playing cards or other tricks of the trade. Whereas, an electronics trade show is going to offer more in the way of cameras, phones, tools and other technological gadgets, some not even available on the open market. The Adult Entertainment Awards on the other hand is more likely to have pornographic magazines, videos and sex toys.
One of the most important things about a booth is the individual or individuals monitoring the booth and answering questions. For this reason, it is important to staff the booth with individuals whom are knowledgeable in the products or services being offered at the time. When there are two individuals staffing the booth at all times, it is easier to take breaks and lunch hours without having to leave the booth.
Another is to use bright colors that draw people into the booth. Having product or services displayed on a table with decorations is also a good idea. When and where possible leaving candy or other items like free erasers, pens, pencils, business card magnets with the company name, address and phone number can often be beneficial.
Whether an international, national, regional or local show, it is often good to have a booth. Booths are often used as a way to distribute information as much as product. While there may be a large flow of people through any one show, most pick up business cards in hope of making contact at a later date. When planning a give away, it is good to list any ingredients in food or drink and assure there is enough stock for the event.
Some events are infamous for the parties surrounding the main events of the conference. These include LGBT oriented conferences, science fiction conventions and others. It is important that when attending these parties or other events that what "happens in Vegas stays in Vegas." Confidentiality while not a given fact, is often a good rule of thumb when it comes to talking about private events. A rule that is especially true in LGBT circles in which some individuals may not even be out to parents much less colleagues, friends and co-workers.
Regardless of the type of conference, seminar or show, those held in Las Vegas have an added ambiance. It is important that anyone going to Las Vegas prepare a plan in relation to gambling and limitations. While it can be fun to gamble, it can be hard to lose. One way to keep it fun is to set limits and realize that monies spent should be seen as an entertainment part of a travel budget.
